  • How does telehealth work?
Once you schedule an appointment, you will receive a link to join your telehealth session. At the scheduled time, simply click the link to access your appointment. You can join the session using a phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop as long as you have an internet connection. It is recommended to use a WiFi connection for a better video experience compared to cellular data. All telehealth services are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure your privacy and confidentiality.
  • Do I need to buy any software for telehealth?
No, all you need for our telehealth visits is access to a phone, tablet, desktop, or laptop with an internet connection. You are not required to purchase or download anything to access the meeting.

  • What is the process, benefit, and cost of genetic testing?
Your genetic makeup may contribute to your response to medications. If desired, we can order a GeneSight test which will be sent directly to your home and involve a simple cheek swab. I will typically receive the results within 2 weeks and go over the results with you. This will provide insight into the way your body metabolizes medications and can aid in the selection of appropriate medication dosages for you based on your DNA. This information can shorten the road to wellness and help you reach symptom relief more quickly. GeneSight is sometimes covered by insurance. You can contact GeneSight customer service at 888-774-4243 to check your coverage. 98% of patients pay $330 or less for the GeneSight test.
  • How much do appointments cost?
For self-pay + out-of-network patients, the pricing is: New patient intake assessment: $250 (60 minutes) Follow up visit: $125 (30 minutes)
  • How often will I need to schedule appointments?
The frequency of appointments will depend on your individual needs and treatment plan. If we are in the process of actively adjusting your medications, scheduling appointments every 3-4 weeks is recommended. This allows us to closely monitor your progress and manage any potential side effects effectively. Once your medications are stabilized and you are experiencing consistent results, you may only need an appointment every 3 months. Our priority is to provide personalized care tailored to your specific situation, ensuring the best possible outcomes for your mental health.
  • What medications do you prescribe?
I prescribe psychotropic medications other than benzodiazepines and stimulants. There are various alternatives for both of these classes of medications that can be prescribed.
  • Do you provide therapy?
I incorporate brief supportive therapy during sessions based on patient preference and needs. This flows naturally during the appointment and may include cognitive-behavioral techniques such as challenging negative thought patterns and automatic thoughts, cognitive restructuring, and developing coping skills. However, I do not want to take the place of your therapist and recommend a therapist specializing in your needs for extensive therapy services such as EMDR for trauma. I am happy to help you find a therapist, as medication combined with therapy has repeatedly been shown to be the gold standard of care.
